Welcome to my place!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy a little bit of summer while you're here. It's my favorite season. I love the sun, the warmth, flip-flops, the freedom, and call me crazy but I even love the traffic when I am travelling and I see other vehicles loaded with luggage, dogs, people, and anticipation of "what-we're-gonna-do-when -we-get-there."

I live in a little town in central Georgia, when I am not on the road looking for fascinating tidbits about the GA and FL coasts. I am obsessed with southeast Georgia and northeast Florida. I don't know why. I long ago ceased to care. I prefer to put my energy into finding interesting pieces of the area's history and then telling stories about it.

I am in my thirtyteens, and I am a writer. I am currently working on a novel about St Augustine and New Smyrna, Florida. I drive a Jeep named Jonathan (in honor of F/V Time Bandit) who knows the way by heart as we barrel up and down GA Hwy 17 and GA/FL Interstate 95 every chance we get. Jonathan is used to "turning around and going back" when we fly past something that catches my attention. He's a good Jeep. He takes good care of me and seems to love the adventure.

I love old houses. I love Spanish moss. I love palm trees. I love the smell of the marshes. I love the heat of summer, the din of the cicadas, and boats. I love ruins. I love cemeteries. I am at my best when I am on the road finding something new, as long as it's old.

And I love music. Contemporary jazz, straight up. My iPod is loaded with my "travelling" music and my "working" music. I love my iPod. I can play my "travelling" music folder when I am working and that helps me remember details and tidbits precious to me. My "working" music helps me focus. Thanks to Mindi Abair, Nils, Boney James, Eric Marienthal, Michael Lington, Marion Meadows, Dave Koz, and a host of other excellent jazz musicians who make me seem more talented than I really am. (And to Sting, U2, and Duran Duran, too!)

I have a wonderful travelling companion who is marvelously patient and puts up with my eccentricities. My friend Carrie goes with me on many of my "sniffing out" expeditions. Some days I think Carrie and I should have been sisters, and then other days I think God knew what He was doing when He made us friends instead. I know I couldn't love her any more if she were my sister. My jaunts along the coast are so much more fun when she rides along. We talk about everything, and we never miss a chance to stop at Captain Joe's for lunch in Midway, Georgia.

Thank you for visiting and check back often as I add whatever strikes my fancy.
